GTMcraft Plays · The Keep-the-Value Pilot Play

Buyers stall at Selection because the pilot ends with nothing in their hands and the real objection stays unsaid; design the pilot they keep and say the objection before they do.

The 90-second read

Selection deals rarely die on a clear no. They die on a polite "let us regroup". Two things sit underneath it: a pilot that ends with nothing the buyer can keep, and an objection that was deferred instead of resolved.

The GTMnow interview with Patrick Forquer, CRO at Legora (6 Oct 2026), describes the opposite on both. The write-up says the pilot gives the customer the IP, integrations and workflow docs to keep, converted or not. It also names a competitive-objection framework called 8 Mile: disarm the objection by naming the competitor's move first. And it calls implementation speed the number 1 leading indicator of revenue, with first value in weeks, not months.

None of that is strategy. It is execution you can set up in 4 weeks. Count the objections you deferred, write them on one card, design the pilot so the buyer cannot lose by trying, and decide on a date.

Read time: about 5 minutes. First step runnable Monday morning.

The #1 move this week

Pull your last 20 deals that reached Selection and write down every objection the buyer raised, then mark each one resolved, deferred, or never said.

You cannot raise a rate you have never measured. Most teams log a loss reason after the fact and never log the objection that was parked on the way.
